Climate change, it's not a myth any more...🌏

in #climatechange5 years ago

Our daily news is already showing signs that our Planet Earth is not in a healthy condition, and she is sending dramatic pleas our way to save her. People have tendencies to react with urgency on matters that show direct effect, and not those that will happen years later, thus the tepid efforts and movement made from not only our global leaders but most of the population on Earth.

Global warming has been and ongoing topic and generally taken as a very light subject, that most brush away expecting the next generation to pick up the mess. But let's not be the ones who destroyed the environment, let's save this planet, the only planet we will ever live on.

Co2 level has reached the highest ever recorded. Our Earth is trapping more heat inside its atmosphere.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important heat-trapping (greenhouse) gas, which is released through human activities such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels, as well as natural processes such as respiration and volcanic eruptions. (Source : climate.nasa.gov)

Nasa has an amazing web where you can visit satellite data accumulated to show global climate change related factors across the earth. The below image is of the Earth's CO2 distribution

This data map shows the Earth's CO₂ average distribution over the last month. Red and yellow areas indicate higher concentrations of CO₂, while blue areas indicate lower concentrations. (Source : climate.nasa.gov)

Per the data compiled from the International Energy Agency, below is a ranking of CO2 emission by country. A full list is available on their website. The amount of emission from the top 10 countries already tally up to more than half the amount emitted globally.

I will not be making any judgmental statements as to which country is more responsible, or what forest fire wasn't extinguished with better planning. But I hope we all educate ourselves to the facts, hence me trying to keep up to speed on the news and sharing some information on my blog.

For our children, and our children's children not only do our leaders need to wake up to the million people who participated in the climate change protest, and for us to start participating from home by increasing our A/C by 1degree. That's just a start. Next will be to minimize consumption of meat, taking more public transportation if traveling alone, and so on. One action at a time, really will make an impact if 7 billion people were to do it.

What other actions can we take to help save Earth?
