152,000 annually deaths are expected due to extreme weather in Europe
There are research indicating that climate change are already affecting us here in Europe. From an article on research.no:
Researchers predict that deaths due to extreme weather in Europe can increase 50 times from 3000 per year today to 152,000 by the end of this century - unless global warming is reined
There are 3,000 deaths annually in Europe one assumes are a direct consequence of climate change. These deaths follow from heat waves and forest fires, among others. According to this article, global warming has made the recent extreme heat in Spain in June ten times more likely than it was before.
Climate change are closing in on us here in Norway as well. We already see the contours of warmer climate, with the consequences it causes, such as more frequent landslides and flooding. For the time being, it looks like us Norwegians won't suffer the direct consequences of the ongoing climate change, resulting in a situation where a non-negligible portion of us stating that we're not very worried about climate change.
