The Crew Of The Sea Princess ( Me at right back)

I once worked as crew on a pleasure boat called the Sea Princess at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town Harbour. This 74ft pleasure catamaran can take over 100 persons and does trips around Robben Island, sunset trips to Clifton Bay and longer trips to Hout Bay on the Cape Peninsular.

One day I checked in for work at 7am we were told that we were on a top secret mission to Hout Bay to pick up a VIP and his entourage for a cruise back to Table Bay Harbour stopping at Clifton Bay for drinks. We were blown away when who should step aboard but none other than Sir Cliff Richard and his friends!

I can’t begin to tell you what a great guy he is! One would have thought a famous celebrity like him would be snooty but he took the time to engage in conversation with each of the crew in turn and cracked a few jokes with us. He seemed genuinely interested in our lives and at the end of the cruise he agreed to have his picture taken with all of us!
