There is no doubt that YouTube is a clear winner here when it comes to professionals features. Personally, I stopped live streaming in 720p years ago when regular i7 computers were capable of streaming content in 1080p. I always suggest that users should stream in the resolution they would normal upload a video in for views on-demand. This is ideal because most views will still happen after a live event. Streaming in 1080p or 4K is ideal when bandwidth is available and it’s encouraged by the YouTube algorithm (more on that in this video).

YouTube Live Streaming: Myths, Perks and Perils - Event Amplifier

eventamplifier.com/2015/02/11/youtube-live-streaming-myths-perks-and-perils/
After our experiments with Google Hangouts on Air at events we were keen to see how YouTube live streaming performed and to explore some of the common misconceptions event organisers have about using YouTube for live streaming. Here are the myths, perks and perils you need to consider…Time Limits

Each YouTube live streaming event is limited to 8 hours. For most conferences, this will not be a problem, but if you are planning a longer event, you may need to consider how to split your live stream coverage to account for this limitation.
Conclusions

For most of our clients, who run one-off or annual events in the education sector, YouTube live streaming represents a significant way to save money and deliver an advert-free live stream. In fact, it is now the first option we offer to our live video streaming clients, unless there is a particular feature they need that requires purchasing support from one of the other major platforms. These platforms still have their place, but free streaming without adverts is a tough proposition to beat and could allow more events to stream their proceedings more cost effectively.

Hi Sara,
Thanks for the post! My question is for churches who live stream their services and are recorded for playback. Are there any legal concerns? Would any notice or sign need to be posted anywhere?
Thanks

Sara Hawkins February 9, 2017 at 10:33 pm - Reply
Phil, there are definitely legal concerns when livestreaming events. While the church may feel that it’s their facility and their event they can do as they wish, someone who enters the sanctuary may believe, right or wrong, there is a level of privacy. It would be pretty easy to provide a disclosure and give attendees the option to to enter if they didn’t wish to be filmed. There are some locations that I’m aware of the have areas where people would not be filmed. This has been beneficial for children with families. Lots of options to reduce and/or eliminate potential liability with regard to livestreaming.

Using Blockchain to Keep Public Data Public - Harvard Business Review

https://hbr.org/2017/03/using-blockchain-to-keep-public-data-public

Mar 31, 2017 - The answer lies with the public — public blockchains, to be specific. ... public blockchain in this manner would not only address our data access ...

With each party wary of the other’s motives and practices, it’s been difficult to settle on a compromise. But if governments and emerging technology companies used the public blockchain, both parties could achieve what they want. Companies could move fast, and consumer safety and rights would be protected.
As respected venture capitalist and author Tim O’Reilly says, “Regulations, which specify how to execute laws in much more detail, should be regarded in much the same way that programmers regard their code and algorithms — that is, as a constantly updated tool set to achieve the outcomes specified in the laws.”
Conceivably, companies would update their information to the blockchain, with secure mechanisms put in place to protect individual and corporate privacy, and the government would use this data, submitted in real time, to apply local laws to those companies, their employees or contractors, and consumers. The government agency responsible for overseeing the industry would then analyze data, such as consumer feedback ratings and other relevant information (for example, whether ride-sharing drivers take tourists on a longer route), to improve safety and better protect the rights of everyone involved. In other words, the government would use lightweight algorithmic regulation to protect local citizen rights and safety.
The public blockchain would fundamentally change the way we govern and do business. Rather than asking companies and consumers to downgrade their digital interactions in order to comply with the law, the government would create an adaptable system that would reduce the amount of paperwork and compliance for businesses and consumers. Rather than force emerging technologies and business models into legal gray areas, the government would use algorithmic regulation to create a level playing field for incumbent companies in their respective industries.
Unless we tackle our crisis of data now, distrust between government, businesses, and citizens will reach an untenable peak. The growth and innovation of our startup economy will be stunted, and the ability for local and state governments to effectively govern will simply erode. We need open data to keep making important business and policy decisions — and we need to put it back into the hands of the public. Our data problem doesn’t have to be a crisis. It can be an opportunity — a chance for our business leaders and policy makers to rebuild a foundation of trust in the critical data we all depend on.
