Johann Gottfried Walther, Wir Christenleut

in #classical-music6 years ago

The last piece in Kauffmann's "Harmonische Seelenlust" is actually composed by Johann Gottfried Walther. Kauffmann died before he could complete the entire collection. That's perhaps the reason why his wife included four works not by Kauffmann's hand. So, to finish the transcription, recording and publication of all chorale preludes by Kauffmann, I play a work by Walther. It is a cleverly constructed piece. The chorale melody is played with the pedals, accompanied by two voices in stric canon.

The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Voxus, of the Müller organ in the Sint Bavokerk, Haarlem (http://www.voxusorgans.com/en/product/haarlem).
