You're welcome @yo-yo.

I tried a bit of Japanese learning on Duolingo, while I was in Tokyo. I gave up after a few weeks. It's way too complicated... specially when I'm already learning Russian. I decided to focus just on Russian. Better learn one thing well than trying to learn two and failing both. :-)

I hope you post in English more often but if you don't, I perfectly understand.

Hi dear! Wow so you stayed in Tokyo quite long time? Yeah...I totally understand about language stuff, especially Japanese. Grammar is very different than English or Portuguese or... other languages. But how many languages do you speak😂? I guess 3-5... I once attended a german class when I was in Berlin, but I totally couldn't understand "what's the question" so I tried to study hard but quit it... just after 2 weeks...^^; I speak a little Spanish means a bit understand Italian too, but well... it's enough only with English and Japanese. haha...
And yeah, I think I need to write article more in English, but as you know it takes time to write it... but I'll do that for getting more attractive from world steemians. Arigato! @trincowski ^^

No, just for a few days. Not even a week.

Grammar wasn't my problem, it was the weird-looking characters. I thought to myself "it's gonna take me a week to memorise each character" and I decided that time would be better spent learning Russian.

I only speak two languages well. Portuguese and English.

I can understand Spanish very well and I speak a little, just enough to get by... I understand some Italian but I can only say a few very basic sentences. Not enough to maintain a conversation, though.

And now I'm learning Russian. I already understand a few sentences, I have no problem in reading the characters, even if I don't know the meaning of the words... and the grammar is proving to be a lot simpler than what I was expecting! Also, there are a lot of words that I can correctly guess, as they're so similar to Portuguese or English.

Obrigado pela resposta, @yo-yo! :-D

weird-looking characters 😆

Sure... it is for you! haha... yeah, I recommend to use Roman letter first to ppl who start studying Jpns... I guess it's easier to remember.
Wow... Russian is also quite tough work to understand... but I noticed that your username seems like a bit Russian name... :-)
Anyway, I'm glad chatting with you here and having more English speaking friends means a lot to me... I mean I get more energy to write in English :)
Obrigado pelo seu comentário aqui!
Have a great weekend dear!

But that would not be learning Japanese. Would it?

You're right about my name. It is a play of words. A mix between a Portuguese term ("trinca-espinhas") and the endings of many Slavic Names.

I adopted it years ago, I wasn't even dreaming about learning Russian by then.

What is cool about Russian is that for us Westerners, the alphabet is not that different. Almost every Russian Character has the equivalent in our Alphabets. 7 of the letters are exactly the same (а, е, о, с, к, м, т), 5 other letters are also in our Alphabets but sound different (у, н, х, в, р) = (u, n, h, v, r) and after that, I only had to learn the others. Most of them are phonetically similar to the remaining letters we know, example: ф = f, и = I, ж =j ... And so on.

With Japanese it's a whole different game, as we can't make such equivalence. As you know.

I am glad I met you, too. Good Portuguese there. 😉

I am already enjoying my weekend since Thursday. Hope you have a good weekend too.
