The Haar of Auld Reekie
This is our entry to the cityscape photography contest hosted by @juliank.
Edinburgh, the Capital city of Scotland, sits on the Firth of Forth's southern shore and with it's proximity to the cold North Sea experiences the haar.
In meteorological terms, a haar, also known as a sea fret, is a cold thick fog blown in from the sea. Most often it occurs during the summer months on the east coast of England and Scotland.
This is a scan of an original photo taken by Capt'n with a Pentax 35mm P3N on the Salisbury Crags looking towards the old city sky line. From left to right the distinct shapes a construction crane, Old College of The University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, The Hub and St. Giles' Cathederal can be clearly see.
