The photos were a bit gray, but the weather was gray and cloudy. So, I guess you could not make them much brighter.
You should add some HEADINGS to your text. Before you type any text in the POST box, you should click the "EDITOR" link at the top right of the box, as in the shot below.
After you get the "EDITOR" functions, spend some time learning about them. Just type in any random sentences, and then practice with the EDITOR functions.
After you've completely inserted your story and completed the EDITING, you can then switch back to "RAW HTML." You can do that by clicking the same place as "EDITOR."
