In this post I will show you one of the wonders of Greece, which is none other than the Monument of the Unknown Soldier.

The monument is located in the center of Athens, in front of the Greek Parliament in Syntagma square. This monument which was built in the 30s, is a cenotaph in honor of war dead.

The monument is in the form of a dead soldier who in his left hand has a shield. The thing that is very strange but incredibly beautiful is that when you look at it, the dead soldier in the monument seems ready to come back to life. The soldiers that protect the Monument of the Unknown Soldier are not ordinary soldiers. They are chosen after a hard training. Another thing that is very characteristic and also very beautiful is that these soldiers wear traditional uniforms and it is a very impressive thing.
