RE: On Cities : A New Formula for the Public Realm
The physical world is lagging behind. I'm so excited to see it break through and embrace a new potential.
There's a 20th century architectural term that says "form follows function"... Well, what if in the 21st century - an upvote could become a brick in a building?
I can see crowdsourcing becoming a new force in the economy to a massive degree, and projects like the Open Building Institute could transform design.
Exactly! Open/crowd-source building can (and should) transform the public realm and our outdated design process. We're so close to this becoming a reality, I can taste it.
If only we could get obsolete zoning laws and closed-minded building codes out of the way! So many people mistakenly believe these are necessary for safe buildings and organized communities.
