Pacific Rim: Uprising.

Hi everyone! I'm Thomas and I'm going to talk about the movie "Pacific Rim: Uprising" by Steven DeKnight.

First of all, we must know what the movie is about:

Sinopsis:

An alien race is trying to destroy Earth. There is only one hope for humanity, and that Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, a promising defense pilot who gave up his career to dedicate himself to crime, will take up the challenge of saving the planet.

Let's get started, at once, I'll tell you briefly: I didn't like this movie at all. But, this was involved in totally destructive criticism, and I was hoping to finish watching the film and smash it in my mind too but, no, I mean, I didn't like it but I expected a lot less, so, I din't expect ANYTHING from her, and that saved her to some extent.

What I did like it.

Well, like I said, the film has "salvageable" things, and they're all related:
The action scenes. So, in a nutshell, the action scenes were great, and visually great, ah, because yes, the visual effects were also very very good. In fact, the last 30-40 minutes, when they were reduced to robots against the huge Kaiju, is when the film basically focus on impressing us visually, was my favorite part of the movie.

Another thing that can be saved from the film is the performance of the main character (John Boyega), you can see how the man was struggling to make a good role, I mean, it wasn't his fault that the writing of his character was quite badly done, yes, it was the most developed, and although it was bad, he was the "best" character of the film.

What I didn't like it.

Everything else. That's it, but, let's go with details: The development, both of the characters and of the story itself. The writing of the characters goes very badly, really at no time do we feel empathy with any of them (except, as I said before, Boyega's character) they die, Who cares? They don't contribute anything to the story, besides, the world depends on a thread and they decided to put a group of teenagers to attract more of this kind of audience, okay, understandable merchandising, but the group is a total disgust, and the FEW characters that appeared from the last movie, they ruined them, well, Dr. Hermann was fine, but Mako, agh. And Newt, the jokes they made were like the actor was improvising his lines. And as I said about the story, it really doesn't get anywhere, apart from how boring most of it is, it was also very predictable, from a specific scene that happens a little beyond the middle of the movie, you predict the ending, you already knew what would happen; movie and a half didn't get anywhere, nothing was happening, and all the time they were just saying stupid things to get to the next action scene, yes, I loved the action scenes but since they got to these they were too forced.

In this film, Del Toro (the director of the first one) no longer directs it and this is very noticeable (I'm sorry, DeKnight), and the film tries to imitate not in the plot, but in the way they develop the film and it is really bad for him. The argument of giant robots fighting monsters (or other robots) has been around for years, and DEL TORO, used it very well, it is supposed that in the sequel they should give us something more to attract us and the sequel just tries to replicate what they did before. Very bad.

In conclusion, for anyone who really only saw the first movie for being on TV, or just watched this movie for being a simple blockbuster; the sequel may seem better to them; but as far as Del Toro fans are concerned, or the first movie, it goes totally wrong, and this is what ruins it. This movie can be good for kids to wear and see how great the giant robot fights are, but nothing more.

Calification: 4.4/10
