Annoying Cicadas

We had a few trees in our yard at one of the houses we lived in when I was growing up, and for a while, we'd hear cicadas making that distinct noise they tend to make every night. We heard it so much that we started trying to mimic it, but we could never do it properly, because the sound they make is hard to imitate.

That sound became very annoying after a while, especially to one of my brothers whose bedroom had a tree right outside the window where he'd have to hear these cicadas singing their night song almost every single night for a while.
