YOU ARE GOD’S ANOINTED

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 1:21
The New Testament Greek word for “anoint” means “rub with oil”. In Biblical usage it means, “to consecrate for an office, to set apart, to authorize and empower one for a divine task. Oil was also used as a symbol for miraculous healing by the twelve sent out from Jesus (Mark 6:13). As we continue in our 21 days fasting and prayer, the Holy Spirit brings to our consciousness that we are God’s anointed. Believers today seem to have lost the consciousness of their identity, due to improper understanding of the anointing. Indeed, God’s chosen people are dying for lack of knowledge. Kings are trekking and slaves are riding on horses. With proper understanding during these 21 days, you will reclaim your kingly position as God has designed it for you in the name of Jesus.
The anointing that was once for kings, priests and prophets in the Old Testament, is now for everyone who believes in the Lordship of Jesus Christ through our baptism. Child of God, in baptism you have been anointed (set apart, empowered, authorized), through baptism you partake in the anointing of Jesus, the Anointed (the Christ/Messiah) to be king, priest and prophet. What was on the outside as symbol (with oil); is on the inside as a reality of the New Covenant. In New Testament theology, those who have died with Christ in baptism are anointed. they are those who have crucified the flesh and are set apart to live unto God in His power.
The Psalmist says, “… therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” (Psa. 45:7) God has set you apart and you were consecrated for Joy, you have been anointed for joy, joy is your portion in Christ Jesus. Psalms 105 :15 says, “Do not touch My anointed ones, or harm My prophets.” This is a divine decree and warning, that you cannot be touched; because God’s anointing is upon you. No devil can touch you without God’s permission. So child of God, you must rise up in prayer to break every hindrance to the manifestation of God’s anointing in your life. You are a divinely anointed king, you are empowered to reign with Christ; Christ lives and reigns. Therefore, do not allow the fear of terror from the evil one to dominate you. As a king, Angels of God are your security (Psalms 91:10-11). Enter the spiritual warfare during this programme of fasting and prayers with kingly boldness knowing that God who anointed you is with you. Besides you are made for signs and wonders.

Prayer Point:

1. Take the prayer points for divine protection in “Amen: It is Done” (pg. 91).
   Exercise: Get “olive oil”, blessed by a pastor of your church, pray with Psalms 91 and anoint yourself with the oil. Also. Join the Daily Strength Prayer Network (DSPN) every Tuesday early morning prayer session.
