Trying to get past the shock factor of not having my life mentor and best friend around is tough. Something both me and my dad thought wouldn't happen for another 15 years or so.
As I walked into the farm where my dad lived, I realized the total shock of how everything played out the past few weeks. My dad left the farm thinking he was going to a clinic to get a shot and medicine. Then go back to his normal life for recovery from, what he thought was just the flu. Everything is everywhere with unknown organization that will take me months to sort through.
There is no choice for me but to move back to take care of the business that is left. I've flown back to Florida to gather my belongings, sell off everything I can, and say goodbye to my friends.
Unfortunately, the cremation and being out of work for 3 weeks has put me in a financial burden. I'm selling off anything that doesn't have sentimental value to me just to pay my own bills and etc. I've started to liquidate my personal stocks to help me out but I know my dad would freak out knowing I had to do this due to his passing.
Once I get back to Mississippi and get his death certificates I'll be able to know what accounts are passed on to me, which ones will be held up in probate, etc. As of right now, this value is unknown and it is also unknown the total debts that will come out during probate. Until then I'm having to come up with thousands of dollars out of pocket that, quite frankly, I don’t have.
