Clark Griswold has an idea of what the perfect christmas should be, but the christmas he remembers from when he was younger and the christmas that actually was, are not the same. He sets about trying to relive his youthful holidays, and brings his unwitting family along for the ride. As always his heart is in the right place but he just never seems to get the desired results.

Throw in the lovable but unwanted arrival of his distant relations, who are just as, or even more clueless and as unlucky as him, and you have just created the perfect chemistry for one of the best christmas movies of all time

Slowly the stress of christmas and the stress of nothing going right, culminate in a hilarious mental breakdown that sees him do some really uncharacteristic things, but the movie ends on high with everyone coming together to celebrate christmas and show that christmas is about more than just gift giving.
