So much to eat at the Christmas market in Budapest...

Last weekend, I visited the Christmas markets in Vienna and I had a fantastic time. They are really beautiful and as you combine it with the beautiful city in itself and lots of locals out there drinking, eating, and having fun, I definitely believe that Vienna is one of the best cities in the world to visit in November and December if you want to combine sightseeing with Christmas market shopping and dining.

Yesterday, I got to visit the Christmas markets in Budapest. It is much easier to see them and experience them, because there are two big markets and they are less than 500 meters from one another. In Vienna, you can walk around the inner town and always find a new market and when you are finished there, you can walk towards Karlskirche, Belvedere, and that region. If you want even more, than you can take the metro, a taxi, drive by car, or walk 7km and end up visiting the beautiful Christmas market by Schonbrunn. In other words, Budapest is easier. There are two big markets and that is what you need to see to say that you have seen and experienced the famous Christmas markets in Budapest. But, are they beautiful? Is it worth coming to Budapest to experience these?

You will, in general, find the same stuff on every single Christmas market, no matter if there are 2 of them or 10 of them. In other words, you don't really need a lot of markets for the purpose of shopping. I believe the markets are made special by the extra activities that can be experienced, like the ice skating rinks, small trains, and other activities available. They are also made special by the food and the drinks, and I actually believe that the gastronomy is more important than the shopping part. At least to me, the shopping part is vital to the Christmas market experience.

That is why I can recommend the following article about the Christmas markets in Budapest because it is packed with tips related to what you should eat as you come to Budapest before Christmas. You should definitely check it out. Many of the things typical for the Christmas markets in Budapest are traditional Hungarian (or at least from the region), but they have turned so popular that you can now find them on Christmas markets and other fairs all around Europe.

All in all, the Christmas markets in Budapest are much smaller, but still, fantastic if you are ready to taste new food and drink some hot wine. If you don't care about eating outside, then they are still beautiful and you can for sure make some nice pictures before you leave town.
