Clever idea! I like the funnies & map, too, for variety.
If you want some 'bling' and are very careful, you can use aluminum foil.
Cut up brown bags from the grocery work well. If you have the time and inclination, these work well for kids to decorate. Good family project!

I do this for children's birthdays! Add an inflated balloon (maybe with candy inside the balloon), tied to the top of the package. Make sure the children are old enough that they don't put things in their mouths -- balloons are a choking hazard for very young kids.
