Christmas in Japan
Merry Christmas, everyone!
When I first came to Japan, I was very curious of how they would celebrate Christmas, if ever they would since the population of Christians are way more less if none. And when Christmas arrives, I was delighted and disappointed.
First, I was disappointed that Japanese translate Christmas as couple's celebration, same as Valentine's day. I work at a hotel and on Christmas, we are full of couples, proposing here and there. I'm not saying you shouldn't celebrate it with your other half because they are part of your "loved ones" but it just makes me sad.
Moving on!
I find it very cute but a strawberry short cake and fried chicken specifically from KFC is a staple in a Japanese Christmas.
And lastly, I will give them props for bring out the Christmas vibe with the Christmas decor and illuminations all over town. Illuminations are what most people look forward for Christmas. From big theme parks like Disneyland, Universal Studio Japan, until the smallest train stations, you would see sparkling fairy lights in every color. I'm not even mad because they are indeed pretty and personally, it warms my heart. As much as I could, I would go to famous illumination parks with my friends or by myself.

But however you celebrate and whoever you celebrate Christmas with, I hope you had a merry Christmas and peaceful holidays.
