Investigating a bit, I realized that the Guinness Book of Records, in its first edition of 1955, names the song "White Christmas", better known in the Latin market as "White Christmas", as the best-selling single in the world ; I found this very curious, since according to the official list of the best selling singles of all time, the success of Elthon John, dedicated to Diana of Wales, Candle In The Wind, ranks number one in that ranking from the year 1997, and highlighting the fact that "Blanca Navidad" does not appear in this official list.

The song White Christmas (White Christmas), was written by Irving Berlin possibly in the year 1940, and was performed for the first time by the singer and American actor Bing Crosby (1903-1977) on Christmas Day of 1941 on his radio show who was driving on the NBC network.

In the middle of 1942, the official recording of the song was made as part of the soundtrack of the movie Holyday Inn.

For its release in the month of July, it was overshadowed by other singles from the album, however when the Christmas season arrived, the song reached the top of the billboard Billboard, where it remained for eleven consecutive weeks, adding the fact that this trend was repeated for several consecutive years in the holiday season, standing out until the year 1946 but still, reverberating in today, where it has become the largest Christmas classic in the world and has been covered by various artists of the market Anglo-Saxon.

Returning to the main idea of ​​this research, I came across the fact that the record of the lists of the best-selling songs has only been made since 1955, and the current record, the top of that list is headed as already I mentioned it by Elthon John, and currently in the top 10 there are artists like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, The Beatles and regrettable Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee with Despacito at number 10 (indicating with this last, in my humble opinion the drastic change in values ​​in terms of musical and artistic appreciation).

Still, despite belonging to an era where there was no official control of this information, Blanca Navidad has sold more than 50 million copies since its launch in 1942, while the hit of John Elthon of 1997 has accumulated more than 33 million copies, officially becoming the most sold in the world, according to existing records.
