Pride is never depicted as a good thing in the Bible. No matter how you slice it, there is no such thing as "good pride". If you invest the time to study it out, you will see that "good pride" is an unbiblical concept. Because pride is always a bad thing, the Father didn't say He was proud of Jesus. Instead He said He was "well pleased" with Jesus. Pride is contrasted with faith because at its core, pride is all about self but we place our faith in Jesus. As believers, faith is the way we receive everything from God. It is through faith that all the good things God makes available to us by His grace enter into our lives. Faith is how we receive the righteousness provided in the finished work of Jesus. And faith is how you receive every other promise God put in His word for you to enjoy too. The more you come to understand and appreciate this, the more your life will turn into one big faith walk. And that is exactly as it should be because the Bible repeatedly says that the just shall live by faith. That's talking about you! So set aside all pride as you continue to grow deeper and stronger in your faith.

Behold the proud,
His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith. — Habakkuk 2:4 (NKJV)
