SELF CONTROL

What is the highest achievement of spirituality? It is your ability to conquer the flesh or self. I am so happy I learned this on time, it has really helped me in my daily living. I know that the greatest strength of a man is to have self control in righteousness. Resisting temptation requires a great strength on the inside, so to be successful temporarily and spiritually one need to develop the the inner ability to rule self. Your first enemy is the enemy within which is self.

According to David O. McKay:
Spirituality is the consciousness of victory over self, the consciousness of being above the passions, whether in anger or jealousy or envy, or hatred. To feel that you can be above those animal-like feelings, is to experience spirituality.

OUR TRUE GOAL
Our true goal is spirituality, we must learn how to develop self control, we must know who we really are whether an active creation or an object created to be acted upon. When God created the world he created some things to act and some things To Be acted upon. We are created to act and not to be acted upon by someone or something like anger, offences and circumstances. If you allow yourself to be acted upon you have made yourself an object to be acted upon.
We all have a dual nature, the natural man which is after the flesh and the inner spirit man. In the real sense the natural man is an object because it is called death when separated from the spirit man. Spirituality is the development of the spirit inner man over the natural man called self.

David O. McKay once said:
“Spirituality, our true aim, is the consciousness of victory over self and of communion with the Infinite. Spirituality impels one to conquer difficulties and acquire more and more strength. To feel one's faculties unfolding and truth expanding the soul is one of life's sublimest experiences. Would that all might so live as to experience that ecstasy!”

My definition of spirituality is when the inner spirit “will” is greater than the “will” of the flesh. However, there is great filling of joy and ecstasy when flesh is under subjection to the law and the rule of the spirit.
