"5 Simple Habits 'Rich' People Do"
Business Insider published an article this week titled "Two Simple Things Rich People Do That You Probably Don't".
According to a study from Business Insider partner, MSM, the super-rich are most likely to:
-wake up before 6 a.m.
-get in a full workout every morning
-and plan their daily schedules the night before (Apparently, Business Insider can't count 'cuz that's clearly 3, not 2, but we digress)
PursueGod.org made a list of their own that might have been titled "5 Simple Things Spiritually Rich People Do That Spiritually-Poor People Probably Don't."
The actual title? "5 Habits For The Christian Life."
And if you're wondering what "Christian Habits" has to do with Bible prophecy--we'd answer "everything". Bible prophecy is supposed to have a purifying effect on the Christian's life. As we see world events lining up precisely as predicted, the realization that we will stand before a Holy God and give an account of our lives, motivates us to live in the way the Bible teaches and to develop the habits that will get us where the Bible says we should go.
Habit #1 - Reading the Bible
Christians believe that the Bible is inspired by God and is authoritative for our lives (2 Timothy 3:16). But we need to understand the Bible for ourselves.
2 Timothy 3:16 --"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right."
Habit #2 - Praying
The Christian life is more than a religion, it's a relationship with a personal God. Just like any relationship, communication is essential.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 -- "Never stop praying."
Habit #3 - Connecting
Connecting with the people around us in a meaningful way is the natural result of connecting with God. The habit of connection is all about discovering and sharing God's truth in the context of intentional relationships through a variety of groups.
Hebrews 10:25 --"And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another..."
Habit #4 - Giving
The Christian life is not only about what we can get. The most mature Christians are givers. We can give our time, our talent, and our treasure.
2 Corinthians 8:7 -- "Since you excel in so many ways--in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love for us--I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving."
Habit #5 - Mentoring
Jesus called every disciple to make disciples. Mentoring as a Christian is as easy as helping someone discover the truth of God's Word and inviting them to live it out in their every day life.
Matthew 28:19-20 -- "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations...Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you."
And while these 5 Habits may not bring you worldly wealth, they will definitely deposit treasure into your eternal account.
A wise man once said: "Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion--it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ." -- Billy Graham
