GOD IS ENOUGH

4 AND JEROBOAM'S WIFE DID SO; SHE AROSE AND WENT TO SHILOH, AND CAME TO THE HOUSE OF AHIJAH. BUT AHIJAH COULD NOT SEE, FOR HIS EYES WERE GLAZED BY REASON OF HIS AGE.
5 NOW THE LORD HAD SAID TO AHIJAH, “Here is the wife of Jeroboam, coming to ask you something about her son, for he is sick. THUS AND THUS YOU SHALL SAY TO HER; FOR IT WILL BE, WHEN SHE COMES IN, THAT SHE WILL PRETEND TO BE ANOTHER WOMAN.”
1 Kings 14:4,5 (NKJV)

As we shared in one of our previous teachings, humans usually find it difficult to manage success.
Jeroboam who was Solomon's servant, a nobody, whom God made somebody; one lifted by God but decided to make another gods for himself and the people of God who were put under his leadership (1 Kings 14:7-11).
The God Who lifted Jeroboam but was discarded by him, that same God he went back to inquire from.
Jeroboam could not get help from the gods he raised, he went to the God of heaven Who lifted him, he wanted to know whether his son, the heir to the throne, would live or not (1 Kings 14:1-3).

If you abandoned God at the time of comfort, after you had been lifted by Him, you would later come back to look for Him.
The whole Europe that became a godless continent, they wanted to be a purely secular State; they would not want God to be taught or mentioned in their public schools again.
They are now grappling with muslims who came with Islam and sharia laws and take over their land.
These muslims are now telling them that democracy has failed, Islam is the way. It is then they begin to wake up to call on God, I think this is serving as a lesson for the Americans.
God made them but they wanted to be a secular state and would not want God to be mentioned in their domain again. They started selling God's buildings to muslims and the muslims started taking over, converting church buildings to mosques, particularly in Great Britain.
If you would not want to serve God, you would eventually serve your enemies with groaning and sorrows:
47 “BECAUSE YOU DID NOT SERVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH JOY AND GLADNESS OF HEART, FOR THE ABUNDANCE OF EVERYTHING, 48 THEREFORE YOU SHALL SERVE YOUR ENEMIES, WHOM THE LORD WILL SEND AGAINST YOU, IN HUNGER, IN THIRST, IN NAKEDNESS, AND IN NEED OF EVERYTHING; AND HE WILL PUT A YOKE OF IRON ON YOUR NECK UNTIL HE HAS DESTROYED YOU" (Deuteronomy 28:47,48 NKJV).

You cannot hide from God!
Still on Jeroboam issue; God had already told His prophet, Ahijah, that Jeroboam's wife would come to inquire about their ailing son and would pretend to be another person (1 Kings 14:5).
God told Jeroboam of making him a ruler, a king, over ten tribes of Israel, with good promises of building an enduring house or dynasty and give Israel to him (1 Kings 11:29-38—take note of the verse 38 of the passage).
However, Jeroboam did not fulfil the conditions which were attached to the promise of lifting and that of establishing his government:
37 AND I WILL PLACE YOU ON THE THRONE OF ISRAEL, AND YOU WILL RULE OVER ALL THAT YOUR HEART DESIRES. 38 IF YOU LISTEN TO WHAT I TELL YOU AND FOLLOW MY WAYS AND DO WHATEVER I CONSIDER TO BE RIGHT, AND IF YOU OBEY MY DECREES AND COMMANDS, AS MY SERVANT DAVID DID, THEN I WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU. I WILL ESTABLISH AN ENDURING DYNASTY FOR YOU AS I DID FOR DAVID, AND I WILL GIVE ISRAEL TO YOU" (1 Kings 11:37,38 NLT).

Jeroboam did receive a good promise from God but he failed to keep his own part of the agreement or covenant.
If God promised to bless or lift you or do one thing or another through your life, you must keep to the commands or instructions given to you before the lifting and other instructions that He would be giving to you as you progress in your walk with Him.
God will make you If you follow Him wholeheartedly. When your ways please God, He will make your opposers to be at peace with you (Proverbs 16:7).

God is enough
A vital lesson to learn from the life of Jeroboam is from what he did when God has made him the king over the ten tribes of Israel as He did promise him—Jeroboam (1 Kings 11:37,39).
Jeroboam out of greed and selfishness thought that God Who made him king over his people would not be able to keep him and make the people loyal to him; he then devised or cooked up a plan through which he could make the people loyal to him—he made another gods for them to worship (1 Kings 12:26-33).
Whatever God gives to you, He is able to keep. Likewise, whatever you committed or entrusted to His hands or you give to Him to keep for you, He is able to keep: " . . . NEVERTHELESS I AM NOT ASHAMED, FOR I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED AND AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE TO KEEP WHAT I HAVE COMMITTED TO HIM UNTIL THAT DAY" (2 Timothy 1:12 NKJV).
Know that you cannot keep yourself; If your relationship with God is intact, you keep His commands, you would not need to defend yourself—make effort to devise any means of fending for yourself or making a plan to help yourself through dubiousness.

How to keep or perpetuate whatever is given to you by God:
• Living right and walking with God in relationship and fellowship is the primary key.
This gives or lends credence to what God told Jeroboam: "IF YOU LISTEN TO WHAT I TELL YOU AND FOLLOW MY WAYS AND DO WHATEVER I CONSIDER TO BE RIGHT, AND IF YOU OBEY MY DECREES AND COMMANDS . . . (1 Kings 11:38 NLT)
• Know God personally and live according to His Word, His principles found in the Bible, and the commands or instructions given to you personally through the Holy Spirit on the inside of you (Romans 8:14).
• If you diligently follow this, you would even be blessed beyond what you have ever asked for.
That is what God did for Solomon, He even blessed him beyond what he did ask for (1 Kings 3:13,14).

Thus, God is enough do not try to help Him!

Peace.
