Let me be blunt and to the point up front. I hate the doctrine of hyper-grace.

Now that we've got that out of the way, let me explain (in simple terms) what that is and why it's so damaging.

Hyper-grace is a doctrine that basically says 'where sin abounds more grace abounds so go sin all you want it's all good, after all, God loves you'. Now, the people who peddle this doctrine will package it up very nicely and make it look good, but that's basically what it boils down to, in the end.

Of course, this kind of teaching is very appealing to the flesh. The problem is we're supposed to be crucifying the flesh, not indulging it with sin.

Another problem is that sin is still contrary to the Law of God, the Will of God, and still separates us from God - sin still grieves God. It's not merely an Old Testament doctrine. And the Law of sowing and reaping is in effect today as much as it ever was.

Being like Carl Lentz and slamming shots with some of the false gods and idols of the world (Bieber et all) is a terrible, shameful Testimony and is so easily used as a tool of Satan to undermine the cause of Christ. This is just one example of worldly-Christianity that is completely at odds with what Jesus died for and how He wants His Children to be - He wants us to be holy and set apart!

There's nothing 'holy' about being like Joel Houston's wife Esther and posting pictures on Instagram showing herself scantily clad and doing many ungodly things. In fact in several of the shots you can see occult symbolism.

How many Christians actually know what God says about worldliness?

Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:
“I will live in them
and walk among them.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
Therefore, come out from among unbelievers,
and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD.
Don’t touch their filthy things,
and I will welcome you.
And I will be your Father,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the LORD Almighty.”

You adulterers! Don't you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 1:27

God is still calling His Children to living holy lives before Him and before their fellow man. If you think the call to obedience and holiness is just an 'Old Testament' thing and that now that we are 'under grace' it doesn't matter what we do or how we live, check out the letters to the Seven Churches in Revelation.

If you want to really know God, and to know His Will and what pleases and displeases Him, look to the Bible...and not to these 'party animal pastors' and celebrities.

And yes,

God loves YOU

But His love is a holy, pure, righteous love that wants the best for you. He is an awesome Father (the best). Which is why He has rules and guidelines for us to follow. They aren't just a list of 'thou shalt's' and 'thou shalt nots' but each one is laid down with great wisdom and is for our good. Sin may be pleasurable for a season but its wages are still death and it still causes much misery for you, for others around you, and grief to God.

So if you love God and want to really show that love, this is how Jesus said to do it:

If you love me, obey my commandments. (John 14:15)
