Food for Thought (#26)Learning to love, from Christ

in #christianity6 years ago (edited)

Read the Passage carefully: Eph 5

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Eph 5:25, NIV)

Usually, preaching is easier than practice. But sometimes preaching gets harder

The verses we are discussing these days are about very practical, day-to-day aspects of life. If they are practiced, life will be very different

We can rather observe rules, when it comes to computers and things like that

We don’t shut off a computer just like that. We do it as it is intended to be shut off. We keep the rules

But when it comes to human relationships, we find it difficult to abide by the rules of the Bible

Here, Apostle Paul encourages Husbands to love their wife as Christ loved the Church

Paul was unmarried. But these are not just Pauls’ own words, but these are from God. The scripture is God-inspired

Sometime back, I read a fiction story about a sculptor who carved out a girl, exactly as he wanted for himself, to marry

And then, as he was watching, the sculpture came to life!

He married her and lived happily for ever!

Unfortunately, no one can have a custom-made husband or wife anymore

God custom-made a wife for Adam, and that was it. That was the first and the last!

People can now select only a ready-made one, from what is available

Adam didn’t do a good job either, with the wife God specifically made for him

I read somewhere: “In marriage, it is about being the right person, than getting the right person”

It is possible to love the spouse in a way Christ loved the Church. It is different from human love. It is the divine, “agape” love

Christ loved us even when we were enemies of the cross

His love was not based on our response, but His character

When “marriage” is facing every attack out there, it is important to keep the lamp of marriage lit, with divine love and submission, mutually

God bless your life

“With God’s help, we can”

Prayer Point for today: Lord Jesus, thank you for speaking to me. Help me to have the same mind as you. Let the pattern I adopt in personal and family life be the Biblical one, not the one I see around. Amen
