RE: HOW WAS JESUS ABLE TO CELEBRATE PASSOVER AND YET BE CRUCIFIED ON PASSOVER?

in #christianity6 years ago

Interesting, I had always thought that either A) The last supper was NOT the passover or B) Jesus celebrated the passover one day early. Thanks for adding your insight into this.

Also, interestingly enough, I am uploading a video to youTube right now to post in the morning about why I do not believe in Good Friday. If possible, I'd like to get your thoughts on it tomorrow. Basically, I believe in a Thursday crucifixion because I think that the Passover Lamb was based off of Jesus Christ, and not vice versa, with his triumphal entry (palm sunday) being like the 10th of the month when the passover lamb was to be taken into the house and then Thursday (14th of the month, 4 days later) being likened unto when the lamb was slain. With the first day of the feast of unleavened bread happening the next day, you'd have the following day still be a sabbath, just not the weekly one, and back to back sabbaths prior to the Sunday Resurrection.) The video will explain a bit more...

Dear @papa-pepper,

Yes, Jesus celebrated one day early. Note that although other elements of the Passover are mentioned in the gospels - the unleavened bread, the wine, and dipping into the sop (bitter herbs) - that no lamb is mentioned.

I believe that there are two reasons for this. First of all, Jesus is the Lamb of God and secondly, the lambs were not slaughtered at the temple until the next day when He was crucified.

Yes, the 15th of Nisan is the first day of Unleavened Bread and a Sabbath.

Please provide me the link to your video, I'd be happy to view it.
