The Samaritan Woman
Bible Text: John.4:4-26
Introduction:
In our today's text, "give me a drink" is a strange personal request the Lord Jesus first placed before a woman by the well of Jacob at Sychar. Causal as it may seem, yet He is looking for a drink in every man's life in this age.
This revealing story is a gateway and an answer to several hearts that yearn to satisfy the Lord in their lives but keep feeling empty and unfulfilled. The encounter Jesus had with the woman of Samaritan though at the on set looked argumentative, but eventually produced in that woman, what Jesus wanted in her, (and in Samaria), as she drew so many to the feet of Jesus in penitence.
Lessons
- Learn how to truly respond to this pertinent desire (of a change of heart) from your Lord and Master. (2Chronicles 7:14 Rom. 12:1,2)
- You must first drink from the well of hiving water, because unless you drink from His own well, there will be nothing in your life to offer Him to drink. (Rev 21:6; Jer. 2:13, Ps. 36:9)
- You must always abide in Him (John 15:1-7)
- There should be no tribalism as we preach the good tidings. (John 4:9,
Matt. 10:5, Luk. 9:52 & 53.1.O.M 132) - The new heart enabled the Samaritan woman to proclaim the good news. (John 4:28-29.)
