Jeremiah 29:11 God's Plans For Us : "For I Know The Plans I have For You, Declares The Lord"...
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord," "plans to prosper you and not to harm, plans to give you a hope and a future" - Jeremiah 29:11
Recall that king Nebuchadnezzar invaded Jerusalem in the year 607 B.C.E, destroyed the temple that Solomon built and took the Jews into captive and exiled them in Babylon. While in Babylon , God in his mercy, did assured them through his prophet Jeremiah, that at the end of 70 years they would be restored back to their homeland. Remember also that it was because of their errors that God gave them into the hands of the Babylonians. So In order to assured them of his goodwill for them, he made the declaration quoted above.
Although the above declaration was originally directed at the Jewish exiles who were at that time close to the end of the 70 year period of their stay in captivity, it does also by extension apply to God's people today, people who love God and trust in him for their salvation.
These words are indeed faithful and true, God's plans for us include our true prosperity, our true security and a better future. How assuring this declaration can be for us at this time and how encouraging it is to have him as our eternal father.
This bible verse was the one my adopted son learned at a summer bible camp. He has always remembered it. He reminds us and quotes it often whenever there is anyone in our family who is discouraged. Thank you for posting.
