Live for Christ
"14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf. (2 Corinthians 5:14-15,NASB)"
Blessed be to God who's made it possible for me to live to see this day. I'm very glad to share with you something small on the above verse. This verse describes how Paul reacted to prideful ministers. He made this known by the very preceeding verse when he said "We are not again commending ourselves to you but are giving you an occasion to be proud of us, so that you will have an answer for those who take pride in appearance and not in heart. (2 Corinthians 5:12, )" it's therefore from this verse that he continued with the verse before us today.
So he continued to say that the reason he does not take pride in appearance as some people do, is because "the love of Christ controls us". He didn't single himself out from the true ministers. So here, to prove the truth in what he said, he made himself normal so that they won't see him as a super christian and thus prevent any pride. His response to the reason why he doesn't take pride in appearance as some people do makes it clear that it's because of the love of God in him. It's is not because he personally forced himself to not to behave that way. But that the love of God, which changed his heart when he met Christ on his way to Damascus, teaches him to be humble.
But the reason for all this humility is seen explained in his subsequent words for he said "that one died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf" . We can see that he referred the Corinthians to the beginning of the life in Christ. He went straight to salvation. And he explained it. That Christ died for us and and because of that we must not live selfishly but rather live for him, For the One who died for us.
