WHAT IS PASSION?

Passion is an energy, it is a power that comes from focusing on what excites you.

The more passionate you are about yourself, your work, your life, or whatever it is you are doing, the more positive energy you give off. True happiness comes when you do what you are most passionate about.

Passion comes when you are being your authentic self and doing what comes naturally to you. When what you do is in alignment with who you are, you get energy from doing it.

The bible says in (Galatians 4:18 NIV)

"It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good.

God is a passionate God. He passionately loves some things and passionately hates other things. As you grow closer to him, he'll give you a passion for something he cares about deeply so you can be a spokesperson for him in the world.

It may be a passion about a problem, a purpose, a principle, or a group of people. Whatever it is, you'll feel compelled to speak up about it and do what you can to make a difference.

You cannot keep yourself from talking about what you care about most. Jesus said,
"A man's heart determines his speech" (Matthew 12:34 TLB).

Here are two examples:

David, who said, "My zeal for God and his work burns hot within me" (Psalm 69:9 TLB).

Jeremiah, who said, "Your message burns in my heart and bones, and I cannot keep silent" (Jeremiah 20:9 CEV)

God gives some people a godly passion to champion a cause. It's often a problem they personally experienced such as abuse, addiction, infertility, depression, a disease, or some other difficulties.

Sometimes God gives people a passion to speak up for a group of others who can't speak for themselves: the unborn, the persecuted, the poor, the imprisoned, the mistreated, the disadvantaged, and those who are denied justice.
The Bible is filled with commands to defend the defenseless.

God uses passionate people to further his Kingdom. He may give you a godly passion for starting new churches, strengthening families, funding Bible translations, or training Christian leaders, or you may be given a godly passion for reaching a particular group of people with the Gospel: businessmen, teenagers, foreign exchange students, young mothers, or those with a particular hobby or sport.

If you ask God, he’ll burden your heart for a specific country or ethnic group that desperately needs a strong Christian witness.

God gives us different passions so everything he wants done in the world will get done. You should not expect everyone else to be passionate about your passion.

Instead we must listen to and value each other's life message, because nobody can say it all. Never belittle someone else's godly passion.

The Bible says, "It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good" (Galatians 4:18 NIV).

Ask yourselves these questions

What passion has God given you?

What are you currently doing to pursue that passion?

Do you believe God wants you to do something more or different to accomplish his goals?

How can you support the godly passions of your friends and family?

WHAT IS EXCELLENCE?

It is the quality of being outstanding or extremely good.

Excellence is not a set level of quality or perfectionism. It’s an ever-changing dynamic in both our personal journey and the collective journey of our teams.

We need to have this at the back of our minds that God is more interested in who you are than what you are. His will for your life is to be who He created you to be. What your job is, where you live, and who you marry is less important to Him. Those things happen as a result of who you are.

Therefore I believe that you are called to be excellent in your heart (character), and from that will flow excellence in your job, marriage, and all areas of life. Excellence begins in the heart; you cannot be ordinary in your heart and extraordinary in your life. Similarly you will not be ordinary in your life if you are extraordinary in your heart. As you seek to pursue excellence, consider the following five characteristics of excellence that are often overlooked.

5 CHARACTERISTICS OF EXCELLENCE

  1. HUMBLE

Excellence cannot occur without humility. A proud man will hide his inadequacies, but a humble man will expose them and seek to excel in his weakness through the perfection of Christ. James 4:6 says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Only through the grace of God and recognition of the fact that we can do nothing apart from Christ can we succeed in the pursuit of excellence.

  1. DEVELOPED UNDER TIME

Excellence is always on, always growing, and always learning. No one is born excellent. Instead, excellence is developed over time by experience and the testing of faith. James 1:2-4 tells us that trials produce perseverance and perseverance produces faith – thus making you mature and complete.

Furthermore, excellence is developed in the details. If you do the little things diligently every day to improve, excellence becomes attainable. It’s all about implementation. Plan to be excellent, and then take every step necessary to fulfill that plan.

  1. SKEPTICAL INQUIRER

1 John 4:1 says, “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God”. Excellence demands a skeptical inquirer because it is not easily blown and tossed by the wind (James 1:6), therefore enabling you to make sound decisions, pursue only things worth pursuing, and function as a trusted resource in every matter of life. By being a skeptical inquirer, you reduce wasted thoughts, actions, and ideas and focus completely on pursuits of excellence.

  1. COMPLETE

Excellence is not a skill – it is an attitude (Ralph Martson). Excellence is an attitude that touches every area of your life. You are called to be excellent in everything you do (2 Corinthians 8:7). True excellence means you dedicate yourself fully to everything you do, as working for the Lord. (Colossians 3:23) says "and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the lord, and not unto men".

  1. BENCHMARKS AGAINST YOURSELF

Excellence does not compare itself to others. Instead, people who are excellent benchmark their performance against themselves because they know God judges us not by our harvest but by our seed (Luke 12:48). Don’t look outward to measure your excellence; instead look inward and compare your growth to where you were in the past.
Set an expectation of excellence in your team.

Excellence starts with the expectation we set for ourselves but a culture of excellence in a team can only be created by the expectation of our leadership. As a team leader, be clear about your expectations – your team will most likely rise to the challenge
In the Old Testament, Daniel was described (in Daniel 6:3) as having "an excellent spirit" that was recognized even by foreign rulers (such as Belshazzar of Babylon and Darius of Media-Persia) that allowed him to be appointed to positions of great authority and responsibility; to interpret dreams; and to have major, far-reaching prophecies of future events and of the end times revealed to him by God. In short, then, excellence not only describes God, but is the attribute for which all Christians should strive by following Him closely, modeling themselves after Him, and giving their best effort in everything they do. It is linked to all the qualities enumerated by Paul. (truth, honor, justice, purity, and praiseworthiness) are also characterized by the various other ways it is translated throughout the Bible.

“The best way to honor God is to be obedient, “Whatever it is I’m doing, I want to be obedient. I want to pursue Him with excellence with all that I’ve got. That’s going to lead into true obedience and true love, which pleases God.

When you are excellent in what you do then:

People will sought after you no matter how hidden you appear to be.

Even your enemies will acknowledge and respect you. Just like Jesus Christ fulfilled his destiny with excellence. Even the devil came to him and found nothing to hold against him. {John 14:30}.

You can be a gifted speaker, You can be a gifted football player, You can be taught the truth in the Bible and not follow it, but you’ve still got your gift. So what happens is you turn your gift into an idol. That’s the greatest form of deception. You love the gift and not the giver. You need God to fuel and energize your excellence.
You need God to give grace to your excellence; that is the excellent spirit of God.

Passion for excellence is not a designation but a destination, you must commit to giving your best to all God has called you to do and be.

You must aspire to always get better and be and do better.

When you take time out to speak in tongues and communicate with your father God, he will breath his spirit in you which is excellence.

You must tell yourself, no matter what I get involve in, I must give my best. Like the bible said as "He is so are we in this world", if God is in me and he's an excellent God, in all I do I must exhibit excellence. So when men are looking for God they just be able to find him in me because of how I express his abilities.

May this words make meaning to you.
