7 Glimpses of God - By Pastor John Piper
Watch this video where Pastor John Piper shares 7 glimpses of God from Isaiah 6:1-4. (The video is not mine). Pastor John is with www.desiringgod.org. They talk about relevant topics but most especially about knowing God and desiring Him above all things.
Glimpse #1: God is alive.
He will be alive in 10 Trillion ages of years when all of those who have lifted their squeaky voices against Him are obliterated like ... in the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.. He is alive forever.. never coming into being, never going out of being..
Glimpse #2. God is Authoritative
God is never at wits-end with His heavenly realm, He sits, He's in complete authority... You don't give God authority in your life. He has it, totally. You can either pretend He doesn't and perish, or you can own it with Joy. He has in the universe, absolute authority.
Glimpse #3. God is Omnipotent
I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne high and lifted up... Isa. 46:10, Dan 4:35
Glimpse #4. God is Resplendent
.. And His train filled the temple..
There are about a thousand different kinds of self-illuminating fish at the bottom of the ocean. And why didn't the Lord just make one of those?.. because He is lavish in His creativity.. lavish in His splendor
Glimpse #5. God is Revered
Above Him stood the Seraphim... these magnificent creatures cannot look directly on God...

Glimpse #6. God is Holy
One called to another saying "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of Hosts". The most important value in the universe is not you, not your family and not 7 billion human beings and not billions and billions of galaxies. We are as nothing, a drop in the bucket compared to the value of God. The main problem in the world is the failure to feel that. God is infinitely valuable.
Glimpse #7. God is Glorious.
The glory of God.. is the manifestation of the holiness of God...God's holiness is His incomparable perfection, His intrinsic, infinite worth. When that goes public.. on display... the Bible calls that the "glory of God.". Leviticus 10:3. The glory of God is the radiance of His holiness.
This God has a name.. JESUS CHRIST. Incarnate Son of Man, co-eternal with the Father. John 1:1. Romans 11:33-36.
I am a believer, I have put my faith in Christ. To some it is foolishness, to have faith in an unseen God. But I think it is even a greater foolishness to see the beauty all around, the teeming life on this planet and the great galaxies of the cosmos and deny that there is a God. And because He is infinite and powerful and has dominion over all, why would I worry about life's problems?
