True Love is Jesus' Love | Stations of the Cross | Maundy Thursday

in #christianity6 years ago (edited)

"Maundy Thursday (also known as Holy Thursday, Covenant Thursday, Great and Holy Thursday, Sheer Thursday, and Thursday of Mysteries, among other names) is the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Maundy and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles as described in the Canonical gospels. This meal is the last time Jesus spends with his disciples and he tells them what is to happen. It is the fifth day of Holy Week, and is preceded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday."

Q Park Compostela Cebu

DSC_0425.JPG

Q Park is located in the northern part of Cebu Province. It is in the Municipality of Compostela, between Liloan and Danao City in the Philippines. The park is well-known for its famous giant Mama Marry. The park is the perfect place to reflect and pray. This park also have Stations of the Cross, where people experience hiking station to another station (it is not that far but a mountain-like hiking is experienced). With the breeze of cool air and the sounds of nature, soul searching and asking for penitence will be a pleasure. The place has a very large statue of Mother Mary. It is very peaceful and has a scenic view which can definitely take your breath away. It’s now your time to reflect and unwind from your daily pressures from work at Q Park Cebu.

Lately, my sister Elizabeth invited me to go to Q Park. I immediately accept her invitation. I will state my experience and the ways to get there simultaneously.

How to get there?

  1. You need to ride a compostela-danao (26/27 Jeepney number). Just tell the driver that you need to be dropped off at Q Park street.
  2. After arriving, find a tricycle or motorcycle. (much better if motorcycle because it will dropped you off up to the Q Park unlike tricycle that only dropped you off far from the park.) Motorcycle fare is = 30-40 pesos and Tricycle fare= 20pesos. If you want a cheapest ride, there is a shuttle that has a fare of only 10 pesos.

After arriving at the park, We went to the 1st station to the 2nd and to the 15th station. I will share the photographs I captured and the prayers of every station.

First Station "Jesus is Condemned to Death"

DSC_0296.JPG

Our Lord's Passion began with Pilate's refusal to take a stand, whether or not Jesus was guilty of rebellion. Instead he washed his hands to tell the world that it was the mob's decision, not his. Yet everyone seed him now as a monument to cowardice, injustice and betrayal of trust. Lord, make me cowardly enough to fear you when all others laugh at you, and brave enough to trust you when no one else would dare.

Second Station "Jesus Takes up his Cross"

DSC_0298_1.JPG

Setting out on the route to Calvary, Jesus receives no sympathy, only hatred to go with the bitterness and blood that paved the road. Strange is the terrain of saviors and doers of good, devoid of friends and comforters. This enormous price was the ransom you paid for our soul. As fragile goodness sprouts in our hearts, send us grave to safeguard it always.

Third Station "Jesus Falls for the First Time"

DSC_0300_1.JPG

He had enough strength to carry the world on his back, it seemed. But once that first wind is spent, Jesus is flattened by his load. Cruel arms raise him up, not to lift his spirits but to get the show back on the road again. What made your cross so heavy? Part of the reason I know, and part of it I am. Take my best offer to help carry the cross, through I'm not much help, I know. I could never carry the load alone.

Fourth Station"Jesus is Met by his Blessed Mother"

DSC_0302_1.JPG

Precious Mother and loving Son meet on the road to crucifixion. Their hearts slowly drown in measureless depths of silent grief. What rescues them is that rare kind of joy: knowing that God's will is done. Then as now, O loving Mother, be present here as there, to be mother and guide. To point to the unforgotten. To be our way to the cross.

Fifth Station "Simon the Cyrene Helps Jesus Carry the Cross"

DSC_0308_1.JPG

The help extended by Simon the Cyrenean may be as nothing compared to the whole Passion of our Lord. Yet the smallest sign, word, smile, or gesture of concern is enough cause for our Lord to set loose torrents of grace for the loving heart. Lord make us find joy in sharing with you and with all our brothers the enormous weight of the cross.

Sixth Station "The Face of Jesus is Wiped by Veronica

29594739_1543992499046600_6669200655825893839_n.jpg

Lord, grant us restless hearts, hearts which seek your face. Keep us from the blindness of heart which sees only the surface of things. Give us the simplicity and purity which allow us to recognize your presence in the world. When we are not able to accomplish great things, grant us the courage which is born of humility and goodness. Impress your face on our hearts. May we encounter you along the way and show your image to the world.

Seventh Station "Jesus Falls for the Second Time"

DSC_0310_1.JPG

Remember that when Jesus stumbles, he lifts us up; when he dies, his death purchases our life. He responds to our repeated falls with a flood of forgiveness. O lord, you rise from this fall only to embrace your cross again. Give us proper appreciation for your mercy and forgiveness.

Eight Station "Jesus Consoles the Women of Jerusalem"

DSC_0315.JPG

We often grieve over the wrong loss and feel enthusiastic about what is really deserving of regret. Indeed, the part of our life that should make us grieve and set alright is the little knowledge we have of ourselves. Lord, while we go on weeping over our sins, may we also give our goodness a much-needed push.

Ninth Station "Jesus Falls for the Third Time"

DSC_0318.JPG

Every fall promises to be the last fall, until I cannot even imagine that the hand of God could stop me from falling. My nightmare cry was a meant both for everyone and for one: Help me! Save me! A voice so small that no one heard and no one cared. Then finally - you. Savior of the world, forgive rashness so typical it goes without notice or apology. Forgive so bold a mistrust that would spare no one, not even you, Lord.

Tenth Station "Jesus is Stripped of his Garments"

DSC_0322.JPG

None more generous than the man who has nothing left to give. When his last shred of clothing was removed, only a body battered from the top to toe remained his own. And even that was not his to keep. Set me free, O Lord from possessions that possess. Only leave me enough strength to climb and stretch this tired body upon your cross.

Eleventh Station "Jesus is Nailed to the Cross"

DSC_0325.JPG

From the cross planted the mountaintop, the land surrounding seems at this hour to be most attractive. There, invisible but surely there, are all the women and men for whom you gave yourself, body and blood. And we can understand if it all makes you both happy and sad. This us the appointed moment, the hour of their salvation-yet, to be saved, one has to want it with all one's heart. Lord, the pity in your heart was taking both the heavens and the earth by storm, thus you gladly gave yourself for us. Let your pity draw those dusty wanderers nearer you, to be made into a new creation by their washing in your blood.

Twelfth Station "Jesus Dies on the Cross"

DSC_0371.JPG

Seeking and following the will of the Father made you single-minded - living what you taught - and well-remembered after death for your loving concern. Your death announced to disciples living in society the death of disorder, and how disorder was death's mistress and secretary general. But your death was the new Death, the Christian Death, bringing life and springtime to a doomed and joyless world. Lord, you never lost sight of who you were, why you came, where you were bound and what we, your disciples must be prepared to do. May such single-mindedness lead us to follow you through life and in death.

Thirteenth Station "Jesus is Laid in the Arms of his Blessed Mother"

DSC_0333.JPG

Taking Jesus down from the cross, the disciples place his body in the lap of his Mother. In this she is not alone, but stands instead for all mothers who resign themselves to a lonely life, having surrendered their pride and joy to something greater than themselves, be it country, work far away, religious vocation, or whatever carries echoes of unselfish renunciation and even martyrdom. Beloved Mother, you never abandoned a parent-less child, Give us a small piece of your loving heart and make us care deeply for orphans and widows, and mothers without homes. We are with you in your solitude, as you are in ours.

Fourteenth Station "Jesus is Laid in the Tomb"

DSC_0335.JPG

The tomb where Jesus lay that night belonged to a wealthy disciple. He was keeping it ready for his own use, but Jesus' need came up earlier. The borrowed tomb reminds us of other things Jesus used, belonging to friends. The Last Supper took place in a borrowed hall; the animal he rode on Palm Sunday; the boat from where he taught the crowds; the small number of loaves and fishes that he stretched to feed thousands... Even his father Joseph was, in a sense, borrowed too. We must reminded, Lord, that much of what we own has been really lent to us. That we have not here a lasting home, and that our interest should lie in something more fixed and superior to anything we have owned, rented, or borrowed so far. Increase our longing to dwell with you - you who will make it our only real home.

Fifteenth Station "Jesus is Raised from the Dead"

DSC_0338.JPG

By heavenly messenger did the holy women learn about the most extraordinary event in human history: the triumph of a man over death. Extraordinary too was the man ho triumphed, for he was both true God and true man. But now it becomes our distinct honor and his legacy to us that we too shall follow him in death and in rising, if we have followed him in life. Lord, my wish is to resemble you, who are the pattern of my life. Without your grace I can do nothing, but with your help everything is within my power. I can leave my sins behind, and I can be with you in everlasting happiness. Lord, grant my wish.

DSC_0401.JPG

After going and praying to every station, we went up to the giant Mama Mary. It took us for like hundred steps before arriving at the top. We prayed then took pictures after reaching at the top.

DSC_0422.JPG

It was a holy day indeed. We prayed station to station, We sacrificed hiking to uphills just to get close with the giant Mama Marry. Jesus' sacrifice is truly an act of true love. He saves us all because he loves us. He had done many miracles. The only way we can thank him is to have faith in him. Having faith shows that we love Jesus Christ and we are thankful for what he had done.
