Hello All,

We all have our moments when we're in doubt and trying to find answers to some tricky questions that maybe should remain unanswered. Agree?

Well, I found myself one night in my own bed, with the lights off not managing to fall asleep. And my mind suddenly started thinking about existential things, one of them being, of course, related to religion. One dilemma came out of my brainstorming: Why there are so many religions in the world?

Of course, I got out of bed and I started searching for answers in the Bible. And here is what I found:

No doubt that the existence of so many religions and the claim that all lead to God provokes confusion in the minds of many who earnestly seek the truth about God, the result being sometimes that some lose all hope of ever reaching the absolute truth about this subject or ending up with the universalist claim that all religions lead to God.

Of course, skeptics give the existence of so many religions as an example that either you cannot know God, or God simply does not exist.

Romans 1.19-21 contains the biblical explanation for the existence of so many religions: "19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God."

The truth of God is seen and known by every human being, because God has made it so.

Instead of accepting the truth about God and submit to Him, most people reject it and seek their own way to understand God.

But this does not lead to enlightenment about God, but to vain thinking. And here we find the basis for the multitude of religions.

Many people do not want to believe in a God Who claims righteousness and morality, so they invent a god that does not come with such claims. There are some that do not want to believe in a God who declares that it is impossible for people to gain entry into heaven.

Therefore, they invent a god that accepts people in heaven if they have respected certain steps, followed certain rules and/or have undergone certain laws, as they could best.

Many people do not want a relationship with a God who is sovereign and almighty. Therefore, they imagine God as more of a mystical force than a personal and great leader.

The existence of this multitude of religions is no evidence against the existence of God or proof that the truth about God is not clear. Rather, the existence of so many religions demonstrates that humankind has rejected the true God.

People have replaced Him with gods that are most fond of them. This is a dangerous initiative.

The desire to recreate God in our image and likeness comes from the sinful nature in us-a kind that will eventually "reap corruption" (Gal. 6: 6-8).

Do all religions lead to God? Actually, they do. All, except one, lead to His judgment. One alone - Christianity - leads to forgiveness and eternal life. No matter what religion embraces, after death, everyone will meet God (Hebrews 9.27).

All religions lead to God, but only a religion will result in the acceptance of God, because only through His salvation, by faith in Jesus Christ, can one approach Him with confidence.

The decision to embrace the truth about God is important for a simple reason: eternity is a horribly long time to allow yourself to be wrong. That's why right thinking about God is so critical.
