Charisms in the early Christianity: In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen and Saul. Acts 13:1

The charisms in the early Church had a fundamental relevance after the death and resurrection of Lord Jesus, because it was through them that the Holy Church was born at the celebration of Pentecost and what led the disciples to preach the gospel and the doctrine of the kingdom of God to a world dominated by sin and ignorance.
The Book of Acts recounts in particular how the gifts inherited from the Holy Spirit shaped the history of early Christianity through the first conversions and especially that of the pagans, the new children of Israel according to the spirit. So much so that the same disciples in Jerusalem, upon learning of the conversion of Cornelius and his family, expressed: "We can see that God has also given the Gentiles the privilege of repenting of their sins and receiving eternal life" Acts 11:18.
The Book of Acts relates that after the martyrdom of Stephen the first Christians abandoned the Holy Land due to persecution and thus one of the main centers of diffusion of Christianity was born, the Church of Antioch, and it was there that the Christians first received their name. And about this Church, the Book of Acts relates how the charisms had been diversified in the believers with this affirmation: "In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen and Saul" Acts 13:1.
And this statement about the early Christianity is very important because the gospel teaches that the gifts are not virtues of the human soul but perfections that the Holy Spirit grants to fulfill a special mission. The Holy Spirit had made some teachers, others doctors, others prophets, and all to fulfill a special task to contribute to the communion, the ethical or correct order of society.
The development of spiritual gifts in the Church, as in the case of Paul and Barnabas who lived in Antioch, was the key to the success of the Church and the transformation of Christianity into the first world religion in history.
