The gap between a prayer and the answer can be filled with many things. If we fill it with complaints and doubts, then our focus can be taken away from the 10,000 things that God is doing to prepare us for the thing that we’ve prayed for. We serve a great God! When we turn our grumbling about delay into prayers of growth we can be transformed into an understanding that God’s ways are higher than ours, that He know what is best for our lives, and that the journey between asking and receiving will grant us the maturity we need to not squander the gifts that God wants to give us.

A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
