Hope! (1/3)
I realise I cannot do the same thing over and over again but I am going to do this a second time and then change things around a bit. Today will be the start of a series of three posts. If I am able to, I will then offer a simple contest on Saturday in an attempt to reward you for your participation over the next three days.
The topic of this series will be HOPE. It will be fun to write about hope and I hope you will be motivated and lifted in spirit as you join me on this journey. I am writing from a Christian perspective. This means that I experience God as an active, current and very real roleplayer in the solutions I seek. It also means that I hold the Bible dear and turn to it as a source of wisdom but especially to help me understand who God is and how He operates.
I do not wish to exclude those who are not of the same faith and would be very excited to hear the opinions of people who look at things through different eyes. I will not attack your point of view and expect you not to attack mine. You are welcome!
Hope!
The internationally known South African, Desmond Tutu says the following about hope.
Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.
As in the picture I'm using for this series, I think hope is the best illustrated by the beauty, the splendour and the promise of a sunrise. Hebrews 6:19 in the Bible describes a specific hope as 'an anchor for our souls, firm and secure.' We need to have hope as much as we oxygen. Not having either is an equally certain death.
It is the middle of a beautiful winter day here in Johannesburg, South Africa as I write this. Looking up at the sky, I cannot see a single star. Tonight, as darkness come, I will be able to see stars. If I left the city lights behind and travelled to a deserted place with no light, the sight of the stars will be one of the most beautiful sights you will ever see.
Hope is like stars. It is only visible when adversity comes. However, if you have hope while facing the greatest of adversity, you will overcome that adversity. Hope will give strength. Hope will help you to persevere. Hope will help you get one foot in front of the other. Hope will help you to see solutions in the most difficult of situations. Hope will not allow you to give up. Wherever you are, whatever you are facing...
you need hope!
Let's grow in hope together. Let's discover how to strengthen our hope and to test our hope.
Join me tomorrow!

Hope that is unfulfilled can make the heart weary. It's good to hope, but there should be limit. Hope really gives strength.
@reonlouw thank you for this great series of HOPE. Hope is something like that for every thing we Hope . out of some Hopes ; some gets converted in to reality. and some leaves as hope only.
by the way this topic is very complicated for me to describe. hehe
sorry for that
this is really what I like in your posting. I share the same faith with you my friend. I just want you to know, you inspire me here. Thank you so much😊
When communist regime started in 1948 in my country, their opponents were imprisoned with many priests among them. The conditions in jail were very tough (hard work, bad meal, interrogations, violence) but the priests stood that patiently and heroicly. No one could steal them their believe and hope. They were also very helpful to other prisoners, not distinguishing between thiefs, murderers or political prisoners.
