Act one, Scene one.

The stage was extremely dark, apart from the rustling of the wind, and the sound of an unseen cricket. Nothing could be heard. Light shines specifically on Iza as she approached the stage with her luggage, she takes a step and stopped, sniffs, turns back, shakes her head, and slowly proceeds again.

Iza:(weeps profusely with the back of her hand as she wipes off her tears. She was about to continue her journey. Suddenly, she heard a voice from behind, frightened by it she turned swiftly, only to spot an elderly man, watching her keenly with an intelligent but stern gaze by which she could not comprehend or apprehend the intent in his looks. Though puzzled by this, she could not tarry for long for she has more distance to cover, she turns her face away and proceed but the image of this old man lingered in her mind, she tried ignoring the image of the old man that flooded her mind but her efforts were futile.)

Old man:(sedately) young woman where are you going to in the dead of the night? (he asked curiously).

Iza:(stopped and stared for a while) I have no choice but to go back to where it all started.

Old man:(chuckled) your answer is neither precise nor direct rather I hear a deeply confused thought. Tell me what has your heart held on to this long that has caused you sorrow this much?

Iza:(pondered about it for a while) I embarked on a journey with someone who cherishes and loves me dearly. (Moans in grief) but he left me(weeps).

Old man: (dazzled) you had a lover! (Anxious) tell me about him.

Iza:(smiles) his the most lovely personality ever, with his hand he numbers the hairs of my head, with his finger he gives an architectural design of my face, his eyes are peaceful and serene to behold one look at it makes one shine brighter than the sun. I can't forget the smiles on his face, it leaves me dumbfounded. He is adorned in royalty and is the mightiest of all Kings. He cradles me like a baby and showers my face with kisses whenever he is around me. His love is preferable to vanilla ice cream. His presence is the rose of Sharon surrounding me as I savor its fragrance and when I lie on him it is like lying on the Lily of the valley, his hot breath sends warmth through my body and I quest for more of him more of his touch. I've never seen one as loving as he is, one at which I worship every stride he takes and can kiss his feet for eternity, ah! You won't understand (stares up with a smile).

Old man:(amazed) suiting words and a wonderful experience I must say for one a youth as you are. Tell me what transpired. Why then does thou weep?

Iza: I fell madly in love with him and lost my sense of reasoning not knowing I was leaping into the edge of the sword. My brain was clogged with love and I was blinded to environmental constraints. For my lover made so many fascinating promises to me. He showed me a garden filled with roses, I saw the roses but I didn't see the thorns, he showed me a castle in the air, I saw the castle but took no cognizance of the absence of foundation. He showed me glory which I saw but the path to it I understand not. He made mountains look plain and could easily create bridges in places that are uncrossable, with his sweet and enticing words. He made me reason that he can make a feast in the wilderness, rain in the desert, and plant in a barren land. All these he said with sweet captivating words. He showed me a bright and beautiful destiny that stirred hunger in my soul and made me crave to reach there but I didn't know that I was going to be a high sort commodity to his enemies. What makes me sob is the fact that at the point when I need him most, he left me making me look stranded. Now I have no choice but to end this adventurous journey(begins to weep).

Old man:(nods gently) first, I will say for every love pain comes along with pleasure, you recognize more of the pleasure and refuse to acknowledge the pain. That notwithstanding, are you sure your lover left you with nothing?

Iza:(bewildered) am sure, okay (reckoned a little long) apart from a bundle of letters, just an ordinary letter, a piece of scrap. The letter is an extension of his sweet exaggerated words. They end up compounding my issues.

Old man: interesting but not impressive. What you called letters are not ordinary letters. They are living in fact it's your lover's way of directing, caring, and protecting you till you get to your destination.

Iza: I don't understand.

Old man: you must believe in that letter only then will it become a light to your path and a lamp to your feet. Through it, you will fellowship with your lover again. For he says the words that I speak to you are spirit and alive.

Iza: you don't mean it.

Old man: young woman go back and continue with your lover than embarking on this dark and perilous journey that has no end and no return.

Iza quickly turn back and walked out of the stage.

Curtain closes.
