#STEEMGIGS (Life) - LIGHT FROM THE WORD : YOU ARE A SON!!
"But as many as received him,to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." - John 1-12
At creation, man enjoyed a close relationship with God. In fact, his interaction with the Father was so intimate as that of a son and a Father.
Sadly, after rebellion in Eden, the God-man relationship deteriorated to God -servant relationship. It was so bad that Adam trembled and declined from meeting with God; claiming that he was naked. Since then, the highest name men could answer in their relationship with God was 'servant'.
A time came in life when the tides turned. When Jesus Christ was born, he was declared God's son. The gospel in John 1:18 describes the level of Jesus' closeness to God. It says 'No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.'
As He walked the earth , He referred to God as his father. This is because God gave birth to him.
The Bible in John 1:14 says 'And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. '
Listen to his response when He was betrayed and arrested : "Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father , and he shall presently give me legions of angels?
The Jewish leaders could not handle this truth. In fact, the high priest Caiaphas' said unto him, I adjust thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, Jesus said unto him, thou hast said.
At the verge of death , Jesus never cowered into fear. He stood His ground as a son! Truly, Jesus Christ is the son of God.
What about you? The text above shows that Jesus has given power to all who receive Him and believe in His name to become sons of God. Through the covenant of grace, Jesus has made every member of the covenant a son as well. They have become sons of the Most High with all the birth rights and privileges!
By this covenant, all these have been justified (Titus 3:7). Once you are born again, you become a new creation -- a part of the new race in Christ Jesus. This way, you become a new being because you are joined in Christ. If God is the Father of Christ and you are joined with Christ, then you and all the believers are part of the family of God. Hallelujah! !!
ONLY SONS ENJOY ALL THE BIRTH RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES. IF GOD IS THE FATHER OF CHRIST AND YOU ARE JOINED WITH CHRIST, THEN YOU AND ALL THE BELIEVERS ARE PART OF THE FAMILY OF GOD.
"That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his son Jesus Christ.' - 1 John 1:3
The apostle John by revelation heard Jesus say that you have a fellowship with God and Christ as a family. And in this family, death is not celebrated. 1 John 3:2 says 'Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. '
Hence, there is no difference between you and Christ. You are a son of God.
By natural birth, you are not a member of Adam's family. The entirety of humanity descended from Adam. But by new creation, we are members of God's family through spiritual birth. Acts 13:33-35 says 'God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee. And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David. Wherefore, he saith also in another psalm: Thou shall not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. '
Truly, the Father begot Jesus the day ( the moment ) Jesus resurrected from the death. When He was buried, you were buried with Him. When He was judged in the spirit realm, you were judged with him.
Jesus is your substitution. Christ had once suffered for the unjust, bringing them to God (1 Peter 3:18). Great is the mystery of godliness. You and I have been justified by that judgement. Never will Jesus return to corruption.
This means that the power of sin cannot penetrate Jesus. Having accepted our sins, He had to pay for it through His blood. So, when God resurrected Jesus, He said to Him, 'You cannot go back to corruption! ' Thus, Jesus was ascended to heaven. When God raised Jesus up, He re-created Him anew.
When God re-created Jesus, He also re-created you.
If you believe in Jesus and all He did for your redemption, say I am re-created in Jesus. Indeed, I AM A SON!!
