Awesome quote. This applies to me actually, temptation. It's a real ...you know what. So easy to give in to it, yet so hard to resist. But yes, know your weaknesses and know your limits, and from there you can build upon, to become stronger.
For me, it's like going into battle. Know your enemy, and know their tactics. Then, know YOUR weaknesses and from there you can be prepared to go into battle & emerge victorious!

I think what I find compelling and worth further thought is Allen’s emphasis on inner knowledge and the absolute nescessity to know or at least be investigating what makes ones inner life tick. That quest would do many of us remarkably well methinks. Peace
Well yes knowing thyself is the 1st approach to the truth !
one who knows the rugged side of his life only he knows how high he can go to achieve eternal peace the truth needs to be find along the way

One who don't even know what he is made of up can't find the truth To find it one must be full of purity because truth is not easy to achieve and to stride forward it takes effort if he is able to overcome those bad habits or nature then one can definitely climb the new heights which is going to be challenging but reaching at those new heights will be a satisfaction and will be worth of the efforts.
