As a relatively new Christian, and one who spent many years doubting deity of every kind, I've grown to really enjoy discussing doctrine and reasoning through faith. Why?

Truth Matters: Reason & Faith

Because truth matters, there is evidence for faith in Christ, and we actually have faculties by which we might weigh the data points and make up our minds.

As the bible rightly points out, God makes himself manifest for all to see, the question is whether we have eyes to see, or not.

Romans 1:20 New International Version (NIV)

20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

We are made for more...

Additionally, I have seen first hand what this world has to offer, and it has left me wanting.

In my life I have sought after sex, drugs, alcohol, reputation, and worldly satisfaction of every other kind, and that lead to dark and selfish places, with no lasting satisfaction. Why? Because mankind was made for something more than worldly satisfaction.

As the great apologist C.S. Lewis said: “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”

The fact that we cannot be satisfied by money, power, sex or drugs is itself evidence that mankind was not just a biological accident. I reject the common conception that life in the universe is accidental, all effects have a cause, and complexity implies design. So the secular suggestion that "nothing times chance, plus time, equal everything" seems nonsensical.

We are not the result of time and chance, or if we were, we would not be as we are: Moral, conscious beings.

The Reality: Behind the Veil

If the biblical God is real, then we (are as it says), made in his image. So it makes sense that we have reasoning minds.

More than that, the very idea that everything was made by a being, implies, that everything is intelligible. Like a painting by an artist, or a building by an architect, we can see the created thing, and discern something of its creator.

So analysis, questioning, doubt and investigation on the basis of our intellectual reasoning is a part of any honest faith journey.

At least as I see it.

This blog will be me sharing my journey, my walk with Christ, my questions, my struggles and the answers I receive during that search.

Lord help me to vulnerably show your glory in my weakness, so that those who see these words might feel your presence, and know your love.
