Imitate God

Today, I thought of sharing one topic from my journal notebook.

Living in the light.

Scripture: Ephesians 5:1-2

Imitate God, there4, in everything you do because you are his children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

Take heed!

Imitating God is living in the light. Deep isn't it? but, how can we imitate someone we do not see?

I'm glad that God didn't just send his words from heaven and speak to us through the prophets, but stepped down from his throne and became one of us. because if we need someone to imitate, he must be related to us.

Thanks to Jesus, we become related to God.

Some of us Christians are just focusing on the cross and how Jesus died and rose from the grave. that's the reason why some of us aren't fully equipped. that's the reason why some of us are good at preaching about Jesus, but not actually living like Christ. that's the reason why some of us are Christians on Sunday, but Christ-less for the rest of d week.

We need to understand that Jesus didn't just come to die on the cross to save us, He also lived 33 years to show us or give us an example.

Paul's point when he said, IMITATE GOD, is to follow Jesus' lifestyle and his practices while he was on the earth.

In Matt 3, Jesus was announced as the son of God and that the Father was pleased with him. TAKE NOTE! This happened before the ministry of Jesus began.

The Father announced that he was pleased with Jesus, not because of his assignment, but because he's His Son.

As we imitate him, we should also put on our identity as children of God.

We should be aware that God is already pleased with us, not because of what we've done or what we are going to do for his glory, but because we are his children.

This message is very important to us esp. we live in a time where media are consistently spoon feeding us with people to imitate and lifestyles to follow.

Its not wrong to imitate people. There are just a lot of disadvantages in copying. Like instead of being who God created us to be and do what we were made to do, we spend so much time and effort on projecting images we just copied from other people. That's we become so cofused and insecure. And worst, we don't just ourselves but also others. that's what insecurity does

But if we imitate God, we will live a life filled with love and instead of focusing on ourselves, we become concern with other people.

That's how we become light.

How to imitate God?

First, read your Bible because it's where you will know and see how Jesus lived.
