• The mission of Jesus, Son of God, is to speak of his Father, "tender and merciful, slow to anger, full of love and truth" (Ex 34,6-7 and Ps 144, 8-9).

• The Gospels allow us to know Jesus, to see how his mission unfolds, to invite us to follow him.
  In the Gospel of Luke, also called the Gospel of Mercy, Jesus tells us: "Be merciful as your Father is merciful." "(Lc 6, 36).

• The parable of the Good Samaritan is in this Gospel. She invites to answer two questions: '' Who is my neighbor? '' Y '' Who do I go after? ''

Luke 10, 25-37

• At that moment, a doctor of the Law stood up and put Jesus to the test, saying: "Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
  Jesus asked him: "In the law, what is written? And how do you read?"
  The other replied: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your understanding, and with your neighbor as yourself." "
  Jesus said to him: "You answered correctly, do it and you will live."
  But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus: "And who is my neighbor?"
  Jesus replied: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell on bandits, the latter, after having stripped and beaten him, left, leaving him half dead.
  By chance, a priest descended this road; He saw it and went to the other side.
  In the same way, a Levite came to this place; He saw it and went to the other side.
  But a Samaritan, who was on his way, approached him; he saw it and he took pity.
  He approached and dressed his wounds by pouring oil and wine; then he carried him on his own horse, took him to an inn and took care of him.
  The next day, he took out two pieces of silver and gave them to the innkeeper, saying: "Take care of it, everything you have spent more, I will return you when I return."
  Which of the three, in your opinion, was the next of the man who fell into the hands of the bandits? "

• The context

Where is this passage in the Gospel of Luke? Jesus begins his ascent to Jerusalem: "As the time approached when Jesus would be cut off from this world, he bravely took the road to Jerusalem" (Lk 9, 51).
He meets a doctor of the Law who tries to put him to the test with the most debated questions of his time:

• "What is the commandment of the most important law on which eternal life depends?" And "what neighbor should we love?

• Jesus will respond by telling this parable of the Good Samaritan.

What is a parabola?

• A parable is a small story so that those who listen can understand important things. Jesus uses many parables. We discover an action of God and an attitude of men. He offers us to listen, to look and to reflect to understand what conversion we are called to.
