When we look at life, we can say that life is like a journey, which we start at birth, and end at death. In this journey of life, the level of success we achieve can be measured by how far we are willing to go in life. Apostle Paul saw the christian life as a race, which must be ran to win the prize.

Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us

1 corinthians 9:24
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain

In this year 2018, we need to ask ourselves this fundamental question. How far do we want to go with God? How far do we want to go in every pursuit of our lives, career, business, family, goals and aspirations? To determine how far we are able to go in this life, we must understand and acknowledge the one and most important factor of all. GOD ! We cannot get anywhere without God. God is the one who crowns all our efforts with good success. Let us always be mindful of this, and we will see God move in greater dimensions in our lives this year. Amen!

What other factors determine how far we can go in life?

1. Determination to succeed

Just like Apostle Paul we must press forward, with all determination to succeed
Philippians 3:14
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

We press forward by holding on to God's promises and prophecies concerning us, and not letting go of them, but constantly declaring them and walking in them, until they come to pass.

We must consistently war in the spirit until our change comes

Ephesians 6: 12-18
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

2. Have a direction, a goal, a purpose:

We must learn to look to God to direct and guide us in every aspect of our lives
Proverbs 3:6
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Let us learn to make it a point of duty to hear and receive a word from God on a daily basis. This word we must hold on to, and make it come alive in our spirit, make the word become flesh in our lives.

There are no shortcuts to success

There are some basic things which we must apply effectively to our lives, if we are to go very far in life, and see the level of success we envision for ourselves.

A. Time:

We must give God our time for each day. How many hours in a day we dedicate to God and the things of God, will determine our altitude in life. Strategize how best to employ your time to glorify God.

B. Talents:

Every man has some amount of talent, skill and ability deposited in him by God. How much of these talents do we use to glorify God? Let us glorify God with our talents, skills and abilities. Let us make ourselves useful in the house of God. Let us be always ready to do good works.

C. Treasures:

Where we pile up our treasures, determines where our hearts, and our minds will be. It is most important to pile up treasures in heaven than on earth, as heavenly treasures are eternal, but earthly treasures are only temporary. We build up treasures in heaven, by giving liberally and cheerfully to God and the things of God. When we sow financial seeds into God's work, into the lives of God's servants and God's children, we reap bountifully. We must strive to be financiers for God's works, treasurers of God's riches.

No amount of prayers can make a person rich, but the principle and law of giving and receiving, sowing and reaping is what makes a man rich.

Prayers prepare the ground for the harvest, but sowing is what brings the harvest.
