MY VISIT TO MOTHERLESS BABY HOME

in #christian-trail6 years ago (edited)

Yesterday, after attending a youth programme in my church, I organized my associates in the sanctuary keeping department, which is one of the departments in my church with the responsibility of keeping God’s house clean at all times. I discussed with them the need to visit the nearest motherless baby home in our street. “At least, we shouldn’t be waiting till when the entire church would be paying them a visit before we join the crew, the bible teaches us to be selfless in our service to humanity, helping others with all sincerity and brotherly love”. Without objecting, everyone bought into the idea, each reaching out for their wallet.

Immediately, we started making some contributions, thank God for the automated teller machine which made it easier for some of us to cash out money using our MasterCard, without the stress of having to visit our banks to withdraw. Within the blink of an eye, we made up to forty seven thousand naira, the amount might not seem that much, but we donated out of love and goodwill.
Few seconds later, I rushed with the departmental secretary into the nearest market, got some toiletries, food stuffs and clothing, and one of the shop keepers having heard our vision, brought some goodies from his shop with great happiness, and gave it to us as his contribution to our ideas. With joy, we took those items back to church; having reached there, others had already hired a mini bus which drove us to the orphanage baby home.

Having reached the orphanage home, all the children smiled at us from the windows and door posts. They knew some kind-hearted people have paid them a visit. We dropped those items at the portal, the superintendents and other officials working at children's home expressed their heartfelt gratitude and also called on the children who thanked us in my ways, they sang danced and got over excited… this was wow as we also joined them in jubilating. Thereafter, we offered a prayer before making our way to leave.

Once we were set to leave, the countenance of the children changed, some screaming: “aunt, uncle…when are you coming back??” and others yelling “we will miss you”…. I felt sad, I thought of how depressed those children might be if no one visits them at all. I thought of how my life could have been if I was born to see myself there. So I made up my mind to be showing love to these children even in my own little way.
