THE WORD IS MORE IMPORTANT

And Jesus answered him, saying, it is written, "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." Luke 4:4

In Luke Chapter 4 the devil attempts to tempt Jesus at a time when he is hungry and probably desirous of food. He replies the devil by saying, "man shall not live by bread alone but on every word of God." What Jesus was effectively saying is that he wouldn't die if he did not eat bread and that bread was not enough to sustain his life.
This is important to us because in life we might have certain desires which are not necessarily wrong; like getting a particular job, a certain grade in school or a certain guy to marry. However when we are tempted to compromise on our standards and our relationship with God as a result of these pursuits then they become dangerous. At such points, we have to learn to say like Jesus did: "If I do not get this thing in life, I won't die," and "even if I get what I want it won't last forever." It is only the word that would last forever. Mt 24:35 Tell yourself this and move on in life. In the end, eye has not seen, ear has not heard what God has planned for you because you love him.

LIFE APPLICATION
Whenever you begin to compromise in life because of one or two desires, remember these words Luke 4:4 and move on in life.

PRAYER
Thank you Father for your precious word given to me.
