If one isn't careful pride can creep in unnoticed. So, I wrote this to remind myself of what pride is because if you can identify it you can defeat it.

I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me. I recommend you use it as a scan and make adjustments where necessary. So, what is pride?

Pride Scan 1

• Pride is issuing counter instructions to the one(s) God has given.

• Pride is the belief that your plan for you is better than God's plan for you.

• Pride is setting yourself in opposition to someone you know God has anointed.

• Pride is making jest of a man or woman of God and spreading information about their short comings (even if the facts are true).

• Pride is the unwillingness and/or the inability to give people the credit that is due them.

• Pride is taking the praises for something you didn't do.

Pride Scan 2

• Pride is treating a fellow believer like you're worth more than him or her; as if a better blood redeemed you.

• Pride is the unwillingness and/or the inability to share your finances with God and people when very obvious financial liftings are taking place in your life.

• Pride is the unwillingness and/or the inability to apologise when you're wrong.

• Pride is the unwillingness and/or the inability to express appreciation.

• Pride is the unwillingness and/or the inability to ask for help when you need it.

• Pride is despising your "juniors" or those not as privileged as you are.

Pride Scan 3

• Pride is taking offence when people don't give you honour and respect as you would like it because you perceive yourself to be someone very important.

• Pride is taking offense when your presence in a place is not publicly recognized and celebrated.

• Pride is carrying about a superiority complex (feeling for some reason you're better than others).

• Pride is carrying about an inferiority complex (thinking and concluding that your degraded opinion of yourself is superior to God's opinion of you).

• Pride is the refusal to accept apology; it is insisting continuously on the fact that you've been hurt.

• Pride is refusing to retrace your steps after God clearly corrects you.

Pride Scan 4

• Pride is the unwillingness and/or the inability to show respect to/for others.

• Pride is the unwillingness to receive instructions from your 'superiors' (those above you in a defined organization or setting).

• Pride is being convinced that you're special but others are not.

• Pride is sticking to your views even though you know they are causing division(s) in the household of God.

• Pride is trying to oust a current leader installed by God and promoting an agenda to take their place,

• Pride is refusing to submit to being led by someone else because you believe you have a very rare, unique and special relationship with God.

Pride Scan 5

• Pride is the unwillingness to seek and/or adhere to godly counsel.

• Pride is seeing and carrying yourself as a mini-star (a celebrity or movie star of some sort) instead of seeing yourself as a minister (a servant).

• Pride is the unwillingness to pray, the illusive confidence that you can handle the issues of life without a culture of seeking help and strength from God in prayer.

• Pride is the name of the foolishness that says there is no God.

• Pride is thinking you no longer need to ask God for grace and mercy.

• Pride is reading all these and instead of doing an introspective inventory, you conclude they're for someone else.
