Introduction

As I stated at the start of this series, one of the things I want to do this month here on my blog is to share some very helpful words of wisdom on love, courtship and marriage.

My wife, @thelovejunkie, is a terrific love catalyst you should read after. I recommend you take the things I'll be sharing here about love everyday (till the 14th of February 2018) and study them along with the things she writes.

Expect this to be eye opening. I'll be as simple as possible and as direct as I should be.

So, let's continue our conversation on Demystifying Sexual Compatibility.

5. THE QUALITY OF PERSONS WE ARE IS SEEN IN THE CHOICE WE MAKE OF WHO TO MARRY

The way you make the choice of who to marry speaks volumes about your value system.

As a matter of fact, the kind of a person you are is showcased by the choice you make of who to marry.

We see this clearly in the marital choices of Esau and Jacob.

Esau's choice showed he was someone who placed negligible value on spiritual things. But Jacob's choice showed he was someone who wanted the blessing of God to flow in his life.

Jacob chose like a faithful man but Esau chose like every other man.

Faithful men place priority on virtue. They also make it a point of duty to marry someone from the family of God.

On this issue of getting a wife, Jacob played by the rules of those who carried the blessing of God on them. He submitted himself to how his spiritual guides - hid parents - thought it should be done.

On the other hand, Esau didn't care about how blessed people such things as these. He walked in his own ways.

Brothers and sisters, there is a way blessed people marry. A blessed man/woman doesn't just marry anybody.

Esau married at 40 but he didn't marry wisely. He married before his twin brother, Jacob, but married astray.

You're not wise because you've advanced in age. It is the light from scriptures that are able to make you wise.

You can find the account of Esau and Jacob's attitude to marriage in Genesis 26:34-35 and Genesis 28:1-9.

How Faithful Men and Virtuous Women Choose

A faithful man chooses a woman of virtue because the kind of woman a man chooses makes a statement about the kind of man he is.

A woman who is virtuous chooses to go with a faithful man because the kind of man a woman chooses to be with makes a statement about the kind of a woman she is.

You can choose to love from your heart without necessarily putting feelings of love first, just like Rebecca did before she ever saw Isaac.

The feelings of love were produced by her decision to love.

There have been cases of good people marrying the wrong person but such could have been avoided.

For example, Abigail, a noble and wise woman was married to Nabal, a rich but foolish man.

When David heard Nabal was dead he hurriedly asked for Abigail's hand in marriage because he knew a virtuous woman like Abigail would be a blessing to a God-lover like him.

It's natural for a God fearing man to want to marry a woman of virtue.

Think about this: Even Nabal who was a fool, went for a godly and virtuous woman, Abigail, when he wanted to marry.

If a fool carefully made a sensible choice at this point, why should you not bother about choosing right?
