Who loves you the most?
I am ready to announce the winner of my teeny little tongue-in-cheek contest about cats and dogs. If you missed it, you can find the contest here.
As you can see from the title of the post, I have chosen sides. Some people refuse to choose sides. Others, and I find this difficult to fathom, like cats more than dogs.
Allow me to make one more point in this regard. In the previous post I showed evidence that dogs are smarter than cats. Given that my wife married me, I can see that intelligence is not always required to be loveable. She finds me at least somewhat loveable...
Do you know who loves you the most? Your cat or your dog? Someone actually studied that!

Humans release the 'love hormone' oxytocin when they experience feelings of love. When we see a loved one (spouse or child) the levels in our bloodstream typically rise by 40-60 per cent. In a recent study, Dr Paul Zak tested 10 dogs and 10 cats. He took saliva from each 10 minutes before a playtime with their humans and again 10 minutes after such a time. These samples were tested for oxytocin.
The results show the hormone increased by an average of 57.2% in dogs but only by 12% in cats.
57.2% is a very strong response. How loved are we by our dogs! And I know that most cat people reading here are pleasantly surprised by any increase of oxytocin in their cats. But there you have it. It is not much but they do have some loving feelings for you... 😍

I don't think anybody though cats will score as much as dogs. A dog's entire life is about his/her master. Cats are aware they could survive on there own, they just choose to be with there boss, I mean butler.
