The Power of Divine Turn Around

Elisha, The Widow and Jars of Oil
2 Kings 4: 1-7 tells the story of a widow in debt. By simply obeying the prophet Elisha, her situation turned around. Empty jars were filled with oil by a miracle. She could pay her creditors and live off the money gained from divine provision.

LESSONS

1. Like the widow, life can throw punches and you find yourself with problems you cannot deal with. In times like this, you must know where to go when you don't know what to do because where you place your expectations determine the answer you get. The psalmist in Psalm 20:7 stated that trust should be placed in the name of the Lord. When you have problems take it to the Lord in prayer.

2. God can use small things to create a big miracle. Stop complaining about the things you don't have. Creating a list of things you don't have. Give thanks to God for the things you have. God can multiply the little you have. You may not be where you want to be but you're way ahead from where you started.

3. Set yourself free from what people say. The widow went out to borrow empty jars from neighbours. Neighbours who knew she was broke and couldn't afford to buy oil. Neighbour who probably thought she was finally losing her mind. She did not question the possibility. Ephesians 3:20 tells us God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. So shut the door on doubters and those who have limited you.

4. The atmosphere of expectancy is the atmosphere a turn around. Change won't come unless you expect it. Faith is not doing nothing. It is taking away doubt and believing the word of God concerning your situation.

5. Don't put a limitation on what God can do. The widow complained about being in debt but in the end she got more than being debt free. She got a living. When you look at Philipians 4:19 you see that God would supply ALL (not SOME) your needs according to his riches and Glory.

God is very much interested in helping you out of any tough situation. Learn to cast your burdens on him and receive relief.
