And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.

Commenting on not being troubled, Gill says it means, “go about your work.” Especially for the preacher, (He was speaking directly to Peter, James, John and Andrew) is this the case.

“Such things must needs be.” As the plan of God develops those things that are contrary to His plan must be brought to a head. These things may include:
The evil of world governments
The rise of false religion
The teaching of false doctrines
The falling away of trusted friends

“Such things must needs be.” Don’t be troubled by it. Yes, it is painful. That is no reason to change the course. Examine yourself. Be sure you are in the faith. Then press on.
